Emotional shock resulting from a significant event or piece of news can lead to some very distressing symptoms. These can range from high levels of anxiety to feelings of emotional detachment. Homeopathic remedies that address the shock itself can really help the healing process and prevent the shock from becoming any long-held damage to the system.
The following remedies are some of the primary remedies for shock but there are others. If these remedies don’t resonate with your own situation, don’t lose heart as there are many others so please just get in touch.
Aconite
This remedy is indicated when shock has come from a significant fright, leaving you highly anxious, perhaps liable to suffering panic attacks, fearful and unable to keep still or focused.
Gelsemium
This remedy suits when you have received some bad news or been suddenly bereaved. There may be a feeling of anxiety with trembling or complete exhaustion, a feeling like you have no energy to do anything, with weakness, drowsiness and again trembling. Droopy eyelids are a common symptom of this remedy too. You’ll want to be alone.
Ignatia
This remedy is the one to go for if the shock has come in the form of a sudden loss, disappointment - perhaps a romantic disappointment - or a bereavement. With Ignatia, the response will be highly emotional with deep sighing, sobbing and a general rollercoaster of feelings. There’ll be a need to be alone and any attempt to make you feel better will be rejected.
If left untreated, shock can stay in the system a long time. The remedies above are to use at the time of the shock but if you work with a professional homeopath, you can address shock from years ago from which you have never really recovered. An example of this would be insomnia after a sudden bereavement. Please get in touch for more information.
