Having a basic homeopathic kit at home is a great idea for anyone, especially if you lead a very active lifestyle or you have kids. It means you will have a go-to for most non-severe first aid situations and even if the remedies aren’t enough to resolve the situation, they’ll assist with the healing process and with pain management.
This week we’ll look at bumps and bruises and the first remedy has to be….
Arnica
Arnica is your go-to for most injuries as it reduces swelling, alleviates pain and - if taken soon enough - prevents bruising. Give Arnica as a remedy as soon as you can when there’s soft tissue injury and apply Arnica cream to the affected area, provided the skin isn’t broken.
Bellis Perennis
Bellis Perennis is like a deeper acting Arnica, and can be given after Arnica for injuries to deeper tissues, such as if you have received a blow to the abdomen or even after surgery.
Hypericum
Once you have given Arnica, go to Hypericum (a nerve tonic) for injuries to parts of the body that are rich in nerves, for example fingers, toes or the spine. It is a fantastic remedy for whiplash or after dental work.
Symphytum
A common name of the plant from which this remedy is made is “Knitbone” and as this name suggests, Symphytum is your go-to for broken bones or fractures as it will speed the union of the fracture. It works so well that you must only give it once the bone has been set.
Ensuring you have these remedies in your home pharmacy will mean you can respond quickly to any bump or bruise that you or a member of your family may experience and speed the healing no end.
