Today is Blue Monday - statistically the most depressing day of the year in the northern hemisphere. I hope it hasn’t been blue for you.
The chosen date of the 3rd Monday in January is a perfect storm collecting chilly weather, a lack of sunlight and empty pockets after the expense of Christmas. I’m guessing that the harsh realities of old stresses still being felt in a new year may also be a factor.
Of course, there is much more to depression than this, and if you do suffer from low mood, you’ll know it’s in no way a one day experience.
That said, what I like about a Blue Monday is the fact that it is a good reminder of the importance of mental wellbeing and the fact that it is integral to health in general.
