Cystitis or a UTI, a bladder infection, responds really well to homeopathic remedies. Provided your symptoms are mild or you catch their early onset, the appropriate homeopathic remedy can prevent the need for antibiotic treatment.
Everyone’s UTI symptoms will differ to match their individuality, but whatever your personal symptoms, in addition to the best-suited remedy, always increase your fluid intake (avoiding caffeine or fizzy drinks), make sure that despite the pain, you don’t delay having a wee, and always try to empty your bladder fully, and lastly, wear cotton underwear and loose fitting clothes on your bottom half. Also try mixing a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda in a glass of water and drink. The bicarb will help neutralise the acidic urine.
Have a read of the following remedy summaries and choose the one that suits your symptom picture most closely. Take it in the 30c strength 4 times a day and reduce the frequency of the dosage as you get better. Of course, always seek immediate medical attention if your symptoms become worse and you develop a fever, low back pain or there is any blood in your urine.
Cantharis - a constant need to wee, nasty cutting pain before and during the flow, burning pain and the wee feels like it came out of a kettle, can’t bear hearing the flow of water, wants to lie down quietly and be warm.
Sarsaparilla (pictured here) - pain tends to be worse at the end of the flow of urine, the flow is weak and dribbly and is easier when standing.
Staphysagria - symptoms tend to come on after sex or from emotional causes such as anger. A constant sense of pressure on the bladder is felt and so it never really feels empty. Every single drop of urine can be felt as it passes and it burns the whole way.
