A sensitivity to allergens can place enormous restrictions on your lifestyle. Here in the UK, we are experiencing sudden sunshine and higher temperatures after a long and very grey winter. Being unable to enjoy this shift in fortunes due to an allergy to the tree pollen that is now present in the atmosphere seems very unfair.
Pharmaceutical medication for allergic conditions such as hay fever can be very effective, but it does not address the underlying cause of the issue and can come with some unfortunate side effects.
Homeopathic remedies can lift the symptoms and for hay fever sufferers who are also treated during the winter, address the underlying susceptibilities which cause the symptoms to appear. Mixed grasses and pollen
This remedy contains a mixture of grasses, cereals, tree pollen and weeds. It is another example of homeopathy being the medicine of like treats like, for instance the remedy Coffea (coffee) for sleeplessness and Allium Cepa, or homeopathic onion, for the stinging eyes and runny nose of a cold or hay fever.
It can be taken daily during the hay fever season, often alongside more specifically indicated remedies, for all allergic responses suffered during the pollen season.
Euphrasia
This brilliant little remedy is made from the flower Eyebright, and as the name would suggest, it is a fabulous remedy for symptoms affecting the eye. If your eyes are the part of your body most affected by pollen, this remedy is sure to impact your symptoms positively. It applies if your eyes stream, if they feel like they have sand in them and if all this comes in connection with a frontal headache and a blocked nose.
Nux Vomica
This remedy may well be of benefit to you if your hay fever symptoms drive you mad and make you very irritable. Nux Vomica comes into play when hay fever symptoms are mainly sneezing and also a blocked nose at night but a runny nose during the day. There may be some wheezing alongside these symptoms.
