The firework season seems to get longer and longer every year, and if you happen to have a pet or child in your household who is terrified by sudden, loud noises, then it’s absolutely no fun at all.
Home prescribing for a child who is easily fearful of loud noises can be very straightforward. Rescue Remedy is probably the simplest suggestion and comes in many forms from sprays to jellies, one of which would hopefully be acceptable to your child.
The homeopathic remedy Phosphorus suits kids who are easily fearful but then easily distracted. They’re sensitive people who have many fears - fireworks and storms being high on the list - and are easily startled. Phosphorus helps earth people like this and make them less susceptible to the fears.
Aconite will help if your child has been affected by the upheaval of fireworks night and is still in a fearful or upset state. If they begin to run a fever, Aconite is absolutely your remedy.
Gelsemium is the best remedy if your child goes into a freeze or a run and hide mode on fireworks night.
Argentum Nitrate should be considered if the fears make your child “hyper” - lots of restless energy and impulsiveness, perhaps with an upset tummy.
For pets, the same remedies apply, but if you find it tricky to get a sense of which remedy would best suit them, just add some rescue remedy to their water.
I hope this helps and enables you to better enjoy fireworks night.
