Homeopathic remedies for IBS #2

This week, we look at 2 more homeopathic remedies for IBS.

Aloe Socotrina
The remedy Aloe is invaluable if your IBS is the kind that means you are afraid to pass wind in case it is actually a stool that you’re passing, not just wind. This kind of insecurity can make life extremely hard as it’s of course very worrying and also extremely limiting as you will never want to go anywhere without knowing where the nearest toilet is.

Diarrhoea is the main feature of this remedy. The diarrhoea is worse first thing in the morning and is accompanied by a lot of gurgling and rumbling in the bowels. There is a lot of wind and there may well be headaches alongside the digestive disturbances.

Aloe can work really well alone or when given in conjunction with the remedy Lycopdium described below.

Lycopdium
The person needing Lycopdium will probably have a long history of digestive problems, characterised by uncomfortable bloating and wind. People who would benefit from this remedy will have IBS that is at its worst in the late afternoon - early evening, at which time their abdomen may be painfully swollen and their energy may drop. Lycopodium people will crave sweet foods but have to avoid onions as they will aggravate their digestive symptoms considerably.

The emotional backdrop to these symptoms will probably centre around issues of confidence and decision-making. The person needing this remedy will suffer an increase in their symptoms if there is an event coming up at work or a test at school - something where they are obliged to perform or prove themselves. Lycopodium people invariably rise to these challenges well in the end, but will suffer considerably in the anticipation of them.

If either of these remedies ring true for you, please get in touch for more information.
