Mild Cystitis
As a cystitis go-to, a combination of the following remedies is brilliant: Berberis, Cantharis, Sarsparilla and Staphysagria. Take 4 doses over 24 hours as soon as you feel symptoms coming and monitor reaction. Watch carefully for the pain heading into the kidneys, as that will need very prompt professional care. Similarly, watch for fevers or chills, as that is also a sign of a worsening situation. In addition, drink plenty to flush out the infection. Drink cranberry juice but avoid the very sugary mainstream brands. Make sure you don’t avoid going to the loo so you avoid prolonging the infection.
Haemorrhoids
Aesculus, Hamamelis and Paeonia (pictured above) This combination of remedies can be used both internally as a remedy and externally as a cream. These two forms of the remedies can be obtained from the homeopathic pharmacy Helios (www.helios.co.uk). While these measures are working, also ensure that you have plenty of fibre in your diet so that you have to do as little straining as possible when passing a stool. You may also find that a sanitary towel soaked in witch hazel and applied to the area after a stool is really cooling and soothing. One of the remedies mentioned here – Hamamelis – is actually witch hazel in its homeopathic form.
